Hybrid Workhorse Telephoto Zoom for Photo and Video Professionals

Engineered for today’s hybrid content creators, the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z is a reimagined version of Canon’s iconic telephoto zoom—purpose-built for full-frame RF-mount mirrorless cameras. This lens combines premium L-series optical quality with a robust, feature-rich design that excels in both handheld still photography and stabilized video production.

Optimized for Hybrid Workflows

At the core of the redesign is a fully internally zooming and focusing mechanism, making this lens a game-changer for video shooters using gimbals, steadicams, or sliders. The consistent length during operation improves balance, while Dual Nano USM motors deliver incredibly fast, silent, and precise autofocus performance. These motors work in tandem—or independently—to maximize focus control and tracking accuracy for both stills and video.

Additionally, the lens includes focus breathing suppression and a lockable manual iris ring, enabling smooth and predictable aperture transitions—ideal for filmmakers capturing cinematic depth and dynamic lighting changes.

Advanced Optical Design

The RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z features a complex optical formula with 18 elements in 15 groups, including:

• Two Super UD elements and one UD element to reduce chromatic aberrations
• Three aspherical elements for edge-to-edge sharpness and minimized distortion
• Air Sphere Coating (ASC) and Super Spectra Coating (SSC) to combat flare and ghosting in backlit scenes
• Fluorine-coated front element for easy cleaning and improved resistance to dust, oil, and moisture
