Canon RF 85mm f1.2 L USM Lens (Pre Owned)

Canon RF 85mm F1.2 L USM Lens Overview:

Professional Portrait Performance

The Canon RF85mm F1.2 L USM is designed for photographers who demand exceptional image quality and smooth background separation. Its bright f/1.2 aperture allows more light to reach the sensor. This helps create strong low-light results while maintaining impressive subject detail. Portrait photographers can achieve shallow depth of field with natural transitions between the subject and background.

The 85mm focal length delivers flattering facial proportions for portraits, weddings, and fashion photography. In addition, the optical design includes 13 elements in 9 groups. Canon also added a large aspherical element and an Ultra-low Dispersion element. These components help maintain sharpness from the center to the edge of the frame.

Advanced Optical Design

Canon includes Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics to reduce chromatic aberration and improve clarity in difficult lighting conditions. The Canon RF85mm Lens also benefits from Air Sphere Coating. This coating helps minimize flare and ghosting when working with bright light sources. As a result, photographers can capture cleaner images with stronger contrast and accurate color.

The lens delivers impressive image quality even at the maximum aperture. Therefore, users can shoot confidently in low light or create dramatic subject separation. The 9-blade aperture system also produces smooth circular bokeh. This gives portraits a polished and professional appearance.

Fast Autofocus Performance

Canon equipped this lens with a Ring-type USM autofocus system for fast and accurate focusing performance. Photographers can track subjects with confidence during portrait sessions, events, and fast-paced assignments. The lens also works effectively with Eye Detection AF features on compatible EOS R series cameras.

This autofocus combination helps maintain precise focus on a subject’s eyes, even when shooting wide open at f/1.2. In addition, the lens communication system transfers data directly to the camera body. This supports near-immediate digital lens optimization and improved image correction.

Durable L-Series Construction

The lens body features durable L-series construction for professional use in demanding environments. Dust- and weather-resistant sealing around the mount, rings, and switches helps protect the lens during outdoor shoots. Therefore, photographers can work more confidently in changing weather conditions.

Canon also includes a customizable control ring for quick access to camera settings. Users can adjust aperture, ISO, or exposure compensation directly from the lens. This design supports faster operation and improves overall workflow efficiency.

Creative Shooting Flexibility

The RF85mm F1.2 L USM supports a minimum focusing distance of approximately 2.79 feet and offers a maximum magnification of 0.12x. Because of this, photographers can capture tighter framing and fine detail without sacrificing sharpness. The lens pairs especially well with high-resolution EOS R cameras because it delivers excellent detail, contrast, and color reproduction across the frame.

Photographers looking for a premium portrait lens with advanced optics, responsive autofocus, and dependable construction will appreciate the performance this lens delivers. The Canon RF85mm Lens combines sharp detail, a bright aperture, and smooth background rendering in one professional package.
