Ricoh GR IV Digital Camera Overview
The Ricoh GR IV offers pro-level image quality in a remarkably compact body. It blends a large APS‑C sensor with a finely tuned 28mm-equivalent lens. In addition, the camera’s slim form and deep grip make it comfortable to carry and use all day. As a result, it’s ideal for street photography or travel where portability matters.
High-Resolution Imaging and Lens Performance
At its core, the GR IV uses a 25.74-megapixel back-illuminated APS‑C sensor that delivers rich detail and low noise. It pairs with a newly designed 18.3 mm f/2.8 GR Lens (approx. 28 mm in full-frame terms), featuring 7 elements in 5 groups. This includes 3 aspherical lens elements, which help improve edge-to-edge sharpness while minimizing distortion. Consequently, your shots remain crisp and clean across a wide range of lighting conditions.
Advanced Stabilization, Focus, and Speed
The GR IV includes a 5-axis sensor-shift stabilization system that helps correct angular, rotational, and shift-based blur. Under certain conditions, this system delivers up to a 6-stop improvement. Moreover, the GR ENGINE 7 processor and improved autofocus system work together to capture sharp images quickly, even in dim lighting. You’ll be able to shoot confidently whether you’re capturing fast-moving action or low-light scenes.
Expanded Shooting and Storage Options
To make your workflow easier, the camera includes both 53GB of internal memory and a microSD slot for additional storage. It supports RAW (14-bit DNG) and JPEG file formats. In addition, you can crop in-camera using the 35mm or 50mm equivalent modes. For video users, the GR IV records Full HD 1080p at 60 fps. You can also take advantage of Snap Distance Priority mode, which lets you preset a focus distance for faster shooting on the go.
Enhanced User Experience and Connectivity
Ricoh refined the user experience with a redesigned control layout and faster startup times. You can connect via Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth to transfer photos or control the camera remotely. The 3.0″ touchscreen LCD features 1.04 million dots and allows for intuitive framing and image review. With a weight of just 228g (body only) and compact dimensions of 109.4 × 61.1 × 32.7 mm, the GR IV is a true pocket-sized powerhouse.
Why Choose the GR IV?
Whether you’re shooting street scenes, travel portraits, or spontaneous moments, the Ricoh GR IV stands out. It combines a premium APS-C sensor, a fast and sharp lens, advanced stabilization, and efficient design. This makes it a go-to choice for creators who want DSLR-quality results without the weight or bulk of a larger camera.
