Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro Art Lens for L-Mount

High-performance macro precision for full-frame systems

The Sigma 105mm Macro Lens is a short-telephoto prime designed for L-Mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. It delivers true 1:1 magnification, which allows subjects to be captured at life-size scale with exceptional detail. As a result, the Sigma 105mm Macro Lens is ideal for macro photography, portraits, product work, and any application that requires close focusing and high resolution.

Sigma builds this lens as part of its Art-series lineup, which prioritizes optical excellence and professional image quality. The optical construction uses 17 elements in 12 groups, including a special low-dispersion element that helps reduce chromatic aberration and color fringing. In addition, the lens maintains strong sharpness and contrast across the entire frame, even at close focusing distances. Therefore, the Sigma 105mm Macro Lens delivers consistent, high-resolution output suitable for demanding professional workflows.

True 1:1 macro reproduction

The lens offers a 1:1 magnification ratio, which means subjects are rendered at actual life size on the sensor. This allows extreme close-up detail capture for subjects such as insects, textures, flowers, and small products. In addition, the 11.6-inch minimum focusing distance provides controlled working distance that helps maintain lighting flexibility during macro setups.

The Sigma 105mm Macro Lens also performs well for portrait work due to its flattering compression and subject separation. As a result, it functions as both a dedicated macro tool and a versatile short telephoto prime.

Optical quality and image rendering

Sigma designs this lens to maintain high clarity and color accuracy across all focusing distances. The optical system reduces flare and ghosting through a Super Multi-Layer Coating, which helps preserve contrast in backlit conditions. In addition, the lens maintains edge-to-edge sharpness even at close focus distances where optical stress is highest.

This consistent rendering makes the Sigma 105mm Macro Lens suitable for commercial photography, studio work, and detailed field capture where precision matters.

Autofocus performance and control

The lens uses a Hyper Sonic Motor autofocus system that delivers fast and quiet focusing performance. It supports accurate subject acquisition for both macro and standard shooting distances. In addition, full-time manual focus override allows fine precision adjustments when working at extremely close range.

The focus limiter switch improves responsiveness by restricting the focusing range, which helps speed up performance in non-macro shooting situations. Therefore, the Sigma 105mm Macro Lens adapts easily between macro and general telephoto use.

Build quality and handling

Sigma constructs this lens with a durable Art-series body designed for professional reliability. The structure includes weather sealing that helps protect against dust and moisture during outdoor use. In addition, the 62mm filter thread allows compatibility with widely used filters for creative control.

The lens balances well on L-Mount full-frame cameras, providing stable handling for both handheld and tripod-based macro work.

Versatile macro and portrait solution

The Sigma 105mm Macro Lens combines true 1:1 magnification, strong optical performance, and a reliable autofocus system in a professional-grade design. It performs exceptionally well for macro photography while also serving as a capable portrait and detail-focused telephoto lens.

Overall, the Sigma 105mm Macro Lens provides a highly versatile and precise imaging solution for L-Mount users who need close-up capability, sharpness, and dependable performance in one lens.
