Sony FE 12-24mm F2.8 GM Lens

Sony FE 12-24mm F2.8 GM Lens

Extreme Ultra-Wide Creative Performance

The Sony FE 12-24mm is a professional ultra-wide zoom lens designed for high-end photography and cinematic video production. It delivers an exceptionally wide field of view that is ideal for landscapes, architecture, interiors, and immersive filmmaking. The constant F2.8 aperture provides strong low-light performance and consistent exposure throughout the zoom range. As a result, creators can work confidently in changing lighting conditions while maintaining full creative control.

Sony designed this lens as part of the G Master series. Therefore, it delivers outstanding resolution, contrast, and smooth bokeh for an ultra-wide zoom. The optical system maintains sharpness across the entire frame while controlling distortion and chromatic aberration. In addition, the extreme wide-angle design allows for dramatic compositions with strong depth and perspective.

Fast and Reliable Autofocus

Sony equipped the lens with advanced XD linear motor technology for fast and precise autofocus performance. The system tracks subjects smoothly during continuous shooting and supports stable focusing for video recording. This makes the lens suitable for both still photography and professional filmmaking workflows.

Autofocus operation remains quiet, which is important for video production environments. The internal focusing design also improves balance and handling during handheld and gimbal use. As a result, creators can achieve stable framing and smooth operation even when working in dynamic shooting conditions.

Advanced Optical Engineering

The Sony FE 12-24mm uses XA, Super ED, ED, and aspherical elements to achieve high optical performance across the zoom range. These elements help reduce flare, ghosting, chromatic aberration, and distortion. Images remain sharp and detailed from edge to edge, even at the widest focal lengths.

Sony also applied Nano AR Coating II to improve contrast and reduce reflections in challenging lighting conditions. This helps maintain image clarity when shooting into bright light sources or reflective environments. In addition, the rounded 9-blade aperture produces smooth and natural background rendering when depth of field effects are present.

Compact Professional Design

Sony engineered this lens for professional use while maintaining a relatively compact form for its class. The balanced design improves handling on Sony mirrorless camera bodies and supports stable operation on gimbals and rigs. The dust and moisture-resistant construction adds durability for outdoor and travel shooting environments.

The lens also includes direct manual controls for efficient operation. Users can adjust focus settings quickly using the focus ring and customizable camera controls. This allows for faster workflow adjustments during fast-paced production environments.

Versatile Lens for Wide-Angle Production

The Sony FE 12-24mm combines extreme wide-angle capability, constant F2.8 brightness, and advanced G Master optics in a professional zoom lens. It performs exceptionally well for landscapes, architecture, interior design, real estate, and cinematic video production. Photographers benefit from sharp detail and dramatic perspective control, while filmmakers gain stable autofocus and smooth handling. The lens delivers reliable performance for creators who need an ultra-wide professional zoom for Sony E-mount cameras.
