The back is offered in a choice of a (light) Blue, (light) Purple, warm gray “Starlight”, or darker “Space Gray” color.
The iPad Air M2 13″ is powered by a 3.49 GHz Apple M2 processor with 8 cores (4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores), a 10-core GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine, 8 GB of RAM, and 100 GB/s of memory bandwidth. Storage options are 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB.
Connectivity includes a USB-C port that supports USB 3 (up to 10 Gb/s), simultaneous dual-band 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6E) with 2×2 MIMO, and Bluetooth 5.3, as well as support for “Touch ID” built into the top button.
The iPad Air M2 13″ has a single 12 megapixel “Wide” rear camera that shoots 4K, and a single landscape 12 megapixel “Ultra Wide” front camera that shoots 1080p and supports the “Center Stage” feature that automatically pans and zooms to keep subjects in frame (it does not support “Face ID”, though). It has dual landscape stereo speakers and dual microphones, as well.
The battery life of this iPad Air M2 model is reportedly 10 hours “surfing the web on Wi-Fi or watching video.”
Like earlier iPad Air models, the iPad Air M2 13″ models also support external keyboards and trackpads, but the iPad Air M2 models add support for a new “Apple Pencil Pro” with additional sensors for enhanced interactivity (squeeze, barrel roll, and haptic feedback). It still charges via a magnetic connection on the side of the device.
Compared to its predecessor, the iPad Air M2 13-Inch (Wi-Fi Only) — and its cellular-equipped siblings — have essentially the same cameras but larger displays, a faster processor and architecture, more base storage and higher capacity storage options, a “landscape” oriented front camera (so it is at the “top” of the display when the device is attached to the Magic Keyboard), and faster Wi-Fi, in addition to the aforementioned support for the more advanced Apple Pencil Pro (optional).
