Apple Watch Ultra
Certified to “relevant aspects” of military durability standards (MIL-STD- 810H) and swimproof and recreational dive to 40m capable (EN13319), the Apple Watch Ultra is Apple’s first foray into endurance watches for those interested in sports and outdoor activities. It is significantly bigger and advertised as “brighter and stronger” than earlier and contemporary Apple Watch models, as well.
All Apple Watch Ultra models are capable of being connected to the Internet without a “tethered” iPhone, but it still is intended to be used with an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16 or later for some functions.
Each Apple Watch Ultra device is controlled with a Digital Crown with haptic feedback and a touch capable display in addition to two buttons — a silver one beneath the Digital Crown and an orange “Action” button on the opposite side of the housing. All Apple Watch Ultra models use a 49 mm housing and feature a 410×502 “Always-On Retina” LTPO OLED screen with sapphire crystal glass packed in a “natural” silver colored Titanium case as well as a ceramic and sapphire crystal back that connects to the charger, too.
Battery life is an Apple estimated “up to 36 hours” overall in modest use; the “Low Power Mode” option can extend battery life to up to 60 hours by disabling the Always-On Display and other functions.
