How can I process an order if i want to use the purchase options?

We have to process it for you and cannot be processed on our site. If you want to pick up in store, we will process it in store just bring a valid ID (Government issued). A second form of identification may be requested such as: car registration, billing statement, etc. (Note, This identification process is the policy of Mac Star Computers. Asking for additional information or documents to verify identity before we release merchandise is part of Mac Star Computers identification policy). Please review and ask about policy before signing in store agreements.

Want it shipped. Before we send contracts all customers who go through our No Credit Check purchasing options Must: A) Send a Picture of your ID, and a second photo of you holding your ID (Selfie) to [email protected] . Unfortunately We Do Not Buy from the public. We only Purchase from our Star Certified Suppliers. Why you ask? Because we provide the longest warranty on all used computers in our store. 6 months full warranty on all Star Certified Equipment.

This is a booming market to be in cellphone and tablet repairs. As of right now we choose to keep our focus only on computer Repair. So No we do not fix phones or tablets. We do, however, are masters at PC/Mac/linux based machines like laptops or desktops.

The Answer is Yes, but its tricky. If you know the problem such as a harddrive or lcd replacement, then yes.

If you do not know what the problem is and tell us your computer wont start. Then we would not know the problem until we diagnose the machine. But Dont worry we are working on our telekinesis skills to fix this issue. lol

If you need Diagnostics we charge only $25 to look at it and it takes up to 24 hours to find out the issue. Once we find out what is going on with your machine, we would give you a call letting you know how much the repair is. If you agree with the price and repair then your initial $25 gets transferred to the cost of repair.

If you do not want to fix the machine then the $25 is not refundable and will only be used a diagnostic fee.

This is a very common question. The best answer is to make Sure the software you are going to use is Mac Compatible and which MacOs does it best Run on. For Example Pro Tools 8 or 9 users upgraded their MacOs to High Sierra 10.13 and corrupted their Pro tools program. They Soon Found out that only Pro Tools 12 work on the latest operating system.

Check Spec Requirements. Alot of Programs are now requiring a specific Processor and Ghz. For example it may require your machine to run a Core2Duo Processor with at least 2.4ghz. Also make sure you at least get the required Ram and hard drive space required.

Its always best to get the best spec computer. Example a QuadCore i7 15″ Macbook pro with 16gb Ram and 500 SSD would be great but pricey*. Sometimes getting a model around 2011 is economically best as long as it reaches your software requirements. Then Later you can upgrade the specs of the machine to be better than great in the future. We call this playing it Smart. :^)

 

Most of our Customers want to upgrade their Computers because they say its too slow. Well depending what are you using the computer for 99% of the times an SSD upgrade is the biggest noticeable Speed changer. Continue reading the learn about the first couple upgrades you should do in order by performance. Unfortunately not all models are upgradable. 2016-2017 Macbook Pro’s are non upgradable at all except for the non touch bar models. 2013-2015 macbook pro’s you can not upgrade the Ram in them. So we can let you know what upgrades are available for your machine.

1. If you still have a spinning normal Hard Drive Disk, its bound to be slow and getting slower by the use. Most hard drive disk has a disk inside that spends anywhere from 5400rpm to 7200rpm. Now thats fast! If you drop your computer and that spinning disk moves, well, you can say “Bye, Bye Data”. It Can corrupt the hard drive and lose your data. Because of this spinning Hard Drive it also creates alot of heat in your computer. The only good thing about these Dinosaur Hard Drives is that they come with alot of storage (ex. 500gb) For Really Cheap.

SSD’s which stands for Solid State Drives, Do not contain these spinning               disk inside. Thus, the name Solid State Drive. That being said they do not             create alot of heat in the machine. SSD’s are usually flash based storage                 and makes your computer 10-20x faster. The downfall is these SSD’s                       Come with little Storage for high prices. So for a 500gb SSD can be 3x-5x               the price of a regular hard drive. Trust me their worth it.

What is Ram? Should I upgrade?

Most people think this upgrade is the most beneficial when really its the                conversion from HDD to SSD that are. But lets not under estimate RAM                use. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. Keeping it Lamen, Ram                  Basically accesses memory from your hard drive randomly, So you can                  access it more quickly. To Keep it Terms more lamen, It’s basically used                for multi-tasking. Example when you have Adobe Photoshop open and                  want to use after effect as well or lightroom. Which alot of ram you can do            so without sacrificing lag time.

We have the longest warranty on our used Star Certified Products which is 6 months. Some Models may still have apple care on them for up to 2.5 years of apple care.
